Furniture storage in Dubai
Choose a unit tall enough to walk into, kept cool and dry all year, with a van price you know in advance.
The short answer
The right place to store furniture in Dubai has walk-in height, air conditioning that runs all year, and a price that includes getting it there. Vachi's furniture rooms are the example with the most on paper: 2.39 m high, 20 to 25 C with humidity under 55%, and sized by home. Pickup and packing labour are free into storage. Very few operators give a number for climate. UAE Storages publishes a steady 24 to 25 C with no humidity figure. Others say climate control or temperature regulated without a figure, and Reef says well ventilated. What Dubai does to stored furniture
Three things cause the damage: heat, moisture and pressure. Solid wood moves as humidity changes, so joints open and veneers lift. Leather and fabric can pick up mildew in damp air. And a sofa at the bottom of a stack takes a dent that does not come back.
An air-conditioned unit deals with the first two only if it stays on. Ask whether it runs overnight and through August, and whether the corridor is cooled as well as the room. If an operator gives no figure, ask for one. If it will not give one, treat that as your answer.
Packing it so it survives
- Clean everything and let it dry fully before wrapping.
- Use breathable covers on wood and fabric. Plastic tight against leather traps moisture.
- Take legs off where you can, and bag the screws with the piece they belong to.
- Stand mattresses on edge only if the maker allows it, and keep them off the floor.
- Put heavy things low, and leave a walkway so you can reach the back.
Costs that are easy to miss
- Dismantling. Vachi quotes this on WhatsApp as an extra. Beds and wardrobes that will not fit through a door are the usual reason you need it.
- Materials. Boxes, tape and wrap are extra at Vachi. Free pickup covers labour and the van, not supplies.
- Return. AED 450 to 700 at Vachi. Elsewhere it is often unpublished.
- Cover. Optional from AED 49 a month at Vachi. Check what it pays out against the value of what you are storing.

Is it worth storing at all?
Twelve months of a 50 sq ft room comes to AED 13,800 at Vachi's published price. Six months is AED 6,900. If your furniture cost less than that to buy, and you are not attached to it, sell it. Keep it if it is hard to replace, or if you will be back soon. Run the store, ship or sell check.

Can I keep a sofa in a half-height unit?
Often not. At 1.34 m high, Vachi's half-height units suit boxes and flat-packed pieces. For assembled furniture, use a full-height room, which at Vachi starts at 25 sq ft for AED 625 a month. Vachi price list
Can a valet service store furniture?
